New APAAR ID System by CBSE to Enhance Student Data Management

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has implemented the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) ID as the primary identification for students in all affiliated schools, starting January 24, 2025. This move aligns with the goals outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, aimed at streamlining student identification and improving administrative efficiency. The APAAR ID is a 12-digit identifier integrated with the DigiLocker ecosystem, allowing students to access and manage their academic results, extracurricular activities such as Olympiads and sports, and skill training records. The implementation supports the "One Nation, One Student ID" program, ensuring that students' academic journeys are recorded and easily accessible.

The CBSE developed the APAAR ID Monitoring (AIM) system to manage and track the development of APAAR IDs across affiliated schools. Schools are required to update student information regularly on the AIM portal, which can be accessed through the CBSE website. The AIM system is designed to enhance the accuracy of student records and track academic progress more efficiently. CBSE has made participation in this initiative mandatory for all affiliated schools, aiming for full implementation of APAAR IDs for every student. Schools that do not comply with the requirements may face administrative sanctions, as CBSE emphasizes the importance of the system in modernizing school administration.

The introduction of the APAAR ID system is expected to bring several advantages.   3. Students and schools can refer to the official circular available on the CBSE website, which contains detailed instructions on how to implement the APAAR ID system.
