Coventry University and NIBM Collaboration Promotes Global Academic Connections

Coventry University has recently enhanced its educational opportunities for students in Sri Lanka by establishing a new partnership with the National Institute of Business Management (NIBM). This collaboration permits students to complete their studies either in their home country or at Coventry University's campuses in the UK. The NIBM chairman accompanied by other representatives visited Coventry University to formalise this agreement, thereby solidifying an important partnership. This initiative aims to enhance the academic experience for Sri Lankan students by providing greater flexibility and access to quality education.
This collaboration expands the university's transnational education offerings, enabling students enrolled in NIBM diploma or selected Coventry University courses to complete their studies in Sri Lanka or transfer to the UK, either at the Coventry city centre or Coventry University London. Courses at the city centre campus include ethical hacking, computer science, and English, while Coventry University London offers business programs. The university underscored its global connections and commitment to enhancing education for students worldwide. The new agreement with NIBM allows Sri Lankan students to benefit from the university’s TEF Gold Standard teaching in the UK, thereby strengthening the partnership between the two institutions.
Dr Gunathilake Tantirigama, Dr D.M.A. Kulasooriya, and Dr Buddhima Subasinghe from NIBM travelled to the UK to attend the agreement signing ceremony at Coventry University. Dr. Kulasooriya emphasized that over 57 years, NIBM has evolved by adopting global best practices while maintaining its commitment to excellence. He highlighted the use of an outcome-based learning model to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed for today’s dynamic industries.
Dr. Kulasooriya noted that NIBM's expansion in Transnational Education (TNE) has strengthened partnerships with globally recognized universities, thus offering students world-class academic pathways. He expressed enthusiasm about expanding transfer opportunities to Coventry University across various disciplines at both undergraduate and master's levels. Furthermore, he affirmed NIBM’s commitment to becoming a leading education hub in the region, one that fosters innovation, nurtures talent and empowers the next generation of professionals to excel on a global stage. Overall, this partnership signifies a significant advancement in providing high-quality education and opportunities for students in Sri Lanka and beyond.
