Artificial Intelligence is reshaping the education system in once unimaginable ways. Indian educational institutions, aligned with global trends, are leveraging the power of AI to elevate educational standards. One such initiative is Chandigarh University (CU), which recently announced plans to establish an "AI-enabled next-gen" campus in Unnao.
This campus will offer 43 multidisciplinary undergraduate and postgraduate programs, aimed at providing quality education to students in Uttar Pradesh. During the launch announcement on 6 January, CU Chancellor Satnam Singh Sandhu emphasized that the new campus would make education more accessible and affordable, while also supporting the state's vision for AI-driven development. Starting from the 2025-26 academic session, the “Augmented by AI” programs will span six key fields: engineering, business administration, health and life sciences, humanities, liberal arts, and legal studies.
During the launch of CU’s Lucknow web portal, UP Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay highlighted that the state's GDP is expected to reach Rs 32 lakh crore by 2025, creating 1.5 crore new jobs. He praised Chandigarh University's initiative, emphasizing that it aligns perfectly with the state's AI goals. Upadhyay also noted that the AI City project has already attracted Rs 2,500 crore in private investment and is set to generate 50,000 jobs in the next five years. The initiative by Chandigarh University will surely enhance the quality of education and play an important role in the state's economic growth.
