Union Education Minister Announces Biannual Board Exams to Reduce Student Stress

The Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced that students of 10th and 12th grade will have the option of sitting for their board examinations twice a year starting from the academic session 2025-2026. It is to help the students to reduce academic stress and it is also aligned with the objectives of National Education Policy.

According to the New Curriculum Framework (NCF), board exams will be held at least twice a year to ensure that students have ample opportunities to perform well and will also have the option to retain the best score.

Pradhan told the students that Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji’s vision is to keep the students stress-free and also enrich them with quality education. This is the formula for making India a developed country by 2047.  Under the first phase of the scheme, 211 schools in the state will be upgraded on a 'hub and spoke' model by spending ₹2 crore on each of them.
