Ekam 2025: Bridging Virtual Education and On-Campus Connection

Manipal University Jaipur (MUJ) continues to uphold its engagement with online learners through its signature annual event, Ekam 2025. This in-person gathering, held on 26 April at the university campus, underscored the institution's commitment to fostering community spirit and collaboration beyond virtual classrooms.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from students enrolled in a wide array of online programs, including MBA, MCA, BCA, BBA, BCom, MCom, MA-JMC, and MA Economics. Learners from across India, as well as international locations, convened to connect with their peers and interact with faculty members, making the occasion both enriching and memorable. The event commenced with a lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by a heartfelt welcome address delivered by Dr. Karunakar A. Kotegar, Pro President of MUJ. He elaborated on the Manipal Group's vision and shared inspiring anecdotes about its esteemed founder, Dr. T. M. A. Pai.

In his keynote address, Dr. N. N. Sharma, President of MUJ, announced two significant initiatives aimed at enhancing the online student experience: the Campus Immersion Program and Research Mentorship. He emphasised that these programs are designed to provide online learners with on-campus exposure and opportunities for research development, thereby bridging the gap between virtual education and practical application.

Further, Dr. Mallikarjun Gadapa, Director of the Centre for Distance and Online Education at MUJ, highlighted the importance of Ekam as a pivotal milestone in the academic journey of online students. He described the event as a unique platform for learners to exchange ideas, forge connections, and broaden their educational experiences. Amrish Sinha, Founder and CEO of UNext Learning, expressed his satisfaction with the rising enrollment in MUJ’s online programs. He also praised the event for fostering a strong sense of community among online learners. He noted that seeing so many students actively participating on campus was both encouraging and motivating.

The one-day event, conducted from 10 AM to 5 PM, featured a variety of cultural performances, including music, dance, theatre, and poetry recitations, presented by both students and faculty members. Additionally, interactive sessions and informal discussions provided students with valuable face-to-face engagement opportunities with their mentors and peers, further enhancing the collaborative learning environment. Ekam remains a cornerstone event for MUJ’s online community, significantly contributing to the holistic development of its learners.
