Jan 09, 2025 |
The Goa state government signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Harvard University on 7 January to launch an educational programme aimed at strengthening public schools and benefiting underprivileged students in the state. The programme will train 100 high-performing underprivileged Class XI students (50 female and 50 male) in the first pilot phase, alongside 40 teachers receiving pedagogy training.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant stated that the collaboration aims to empower Goa's public schools, benefiting underprivileged students. The 'Programme for Scientifically Inspired Leadership (PSIL)' will involve Harvard students as instructors, Goa college students as fellows, and public school students. It will provide higher secondary students with a liberal arts and science-based curriculum, offering skills and knowledge beyond their regular classes.
Each module in the programme will be taught by one instructor, who will be assisted by an instructor fellow. The content for the modules will be developed by the instructor with oversight from the programme directors. The student-to-instructor ratio for higher secondary school students will be no more than 20:1.This partnership promises to empower students and teachers, fostering long-term growth and development in the state's education system.
Editor's Note:
The global collaboration between the Goa state government and Harvard University is transforming the Indian education system by offering students international-level education, expert guidance, and career advancement opportunities. However, true accessibility and affordability in education will be achieved by strengthening the public education system and empowering underprivileged students.
The partnership provides underprivileged students with access to a high-quality, liberal arts and science-based curriculum through the 'Programme for Scientifically Inspired Leadership (PSIL).' This innovative initiative not only focuses on student training but also emphasizes pedagogy development for teachers.
Skoobuzz views that this program will develop long-term growth and contribute to a more equitable and dynamic educational environment.
