Halcyon London International School has established a distinctive presence in the realm of secondary education by integrating academic rigour with innovative learning practices. Since its inception in 2013, the not-for-profit, co-educational institution has delivered the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum to students aged 11 to 18, spanning Grades 6 to 12. With a strong emphasis on creativity, global citizenship, and intellectual engagement, Halcyon is widely recognised for its progressive teaching methods and nurturing academic environment.

The school’s commitment to excellence has been affirmed by an 'Outstanding' rating from Ofsted and its recognition as a finalist in the British International School of the Year category at the Independent Schools of the Year Awards, both testaments to its dedication to delivering transformative, future-focused education. As Central London’s only not-for-profit independent IB school, Halcyon continues to set benchmarks in holistic learning and student achievement.

In a recent milestone, Halcyon reported exceptional results for its International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) Class of 2025. Students achieved an average score of 35, surpassing both UK and global averages. All graduates successfully passed the Diploma, with two students attaining a perfect score of 45 and 24 per cent scoring 40 or above. The cohort received 96 university offers from leading institutions across six countries, reflecting the school’s global academic reach.

IBDP Coordinator Ms Lori Fritz commended the cohort for their academic excellence, collaboration, and creativity. She emphasised that their accomplishments extended beyond examination scores, citing Theory of Knowledge essays, scientific discoveries, original music compositions, and visual artwork as evidence of their holistic development and desire to contribute meaningfully to society. According to the Director of University and Careers Counselling, Asil Al-Shammari, students from the Class of 2025 will join prestigious institutions including The New School – Parsons, TU Delft, Vassar College, Bentley University, Imperial College London, UCL, LSE, KU Leuven, and King’s College London. Eight students secured places at Russell Group universities for programmes such as Mechanical Engineering, Biochemistry, International Relations and Chinese, Law, Crime and Cyber Science, International Management, and Economics and Politics with study abroad options.

The school highlighted that LSE, UCL, and Imperial College London are ranked among the top 50 universities globally in the QS World Rankings 2025, with Imperial placed in the top five. Additionally, two students will pursue creative disciplines, enrolling in Music and Music, Sound and Technology programmes. In North America, placements included Bentley University, where one student received a $17,000 annual Dean’s Scholarship for Business, Vassar College for Political Science, Wake Forest University for International Relations, Concordia University for Studio Arts with a minor in English Literature, and The New School – Parsons for Fashion Design. In Europe, offers included Product Design at IED, Aerospace Engineering at TU Delft, and European Studies at KU Leuven.

To support international students, Halcyon continues to offer its English Plus programme, designed to strengthen language proficiency for non-native English speakers. Grade 12 student Artur Tomakhov, admitted to UCL for Mechanical Engineering, shared his experience of personalised teaching at Halcyon. He noted that the school’s low teacher-to-student ratio enabled tailored academic guidance, which significantly enhanced his progress. Reflecting on his transition from Ukrainian literature to Halcyon, he described the journey as a transformative period of personal and academic growth.The school also acknowledged the global expansion of the IBDP, which began in 1971 with 601 students in 12 schools and has grown to 21,806 students in 1,427 schools across 125 countries by 2024. It reiterated that the IB Diploma not only facilitates access to top universities worldwide but also equips graduates with the skills and mindset to drive meaningful change. The IBDP results, as of 7 July 2025, remain subject to official revision. Halcyon’s continued success reflects its unwavering commitment to nurturing globally competent, intellectually curious, and socially responsible learners.
