Driving Academic Excellence: Hindu College Establishes Policy Lab

Hindu College Leads Innovation with Public Policy Certification Course

Hindu College, a distinguished institution under Delhi University, has set a remarkable precedent by becoming the first higher education institution in India to launch a dedicated public policy lab. This pioneering initiative seeks to integrate practical policymaking into undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, revolutionising the study and application of public policy in academia. Designed as an interactive hub for policy simulations, applied research, and field-based insights, the lab aims to decentralise and democratise the process of knowledge creation in public policy. By focusing on hands-on experiences and direct engagement with policy challenges, it bridges the gap between theoretical learning and real-world application. Through this, the lab strives to make public policy education more accessible to students, researchers, and communities alike.

Further enhancing its vision, Hindu College has introduced its flagship certification course, Public Policy in Action, aimed at equipping both undergraduate and postgraduate students with skills to understand, contribute to, and influence policy formulation. This course reflects the National Education Policy 2020’s emphasis on interdisciplinary and practical learning, fostering a robust connection between education and impactful policymaking.

At the lab’s inauguration, BVR Subrahmanyam, CEO of NITI Aayog, highlighted the importance of embedding public policy thinking within academic curricula, emphasising its relevance as India progresses toward becoming a $30 trillion economy. He stressed the need for institutions that prioritise not only education but also innovation. His presence underscored the strategic significance of the lab to India’s developmental goals.

Anju Srivastava, Principal of Hindu College, described the lab’s creation as a milestone achievement that reinforces the college’s dedication to academic excellence and meaningful educational reforms. With a strong focus on experiential learning and applied research, the public policy lab is expected to reshape the way policy education is imparted in India. Hindu College’s initiative is a progressive step toward cultivating a generation of policy professionals who will contribute significantly to India’s economic and social advancements.
