School of Music at Illinois State University Presents Dido and Aeneas, Guest Artist Recitals

Andy Slater Exhibition and Visiting Artist Lectures Highlight March Events at ISU

Illinois State University’s Wonsook Kim College of Fine Arts has announced an exciting lineup of events for March 2025. The schedule includes various exhibitions and lectures, with the University’s events calendar providing the most up-to-date information, as dates and times may be subject to change and not all events may be listed.

One of the notable exhibitions is "Andy Slater: Paintings & Drawings," which will be on display through March 26 at the University Galleries in Uptown Station. Additionally, "Drawing Our Community" will be showcased at the Student Art Gallery at Central Illinois Regional Airport until May 3. The "2025 MFA Thesis Exhibitions" will be open from March 10 to March 28 at the University Galleries, highlighting the work of graduating students.

Complementing these exhibitions, a series of visiting artist lectures will take place throughout the month. Christopher Corneal, an associate professor of graphic design at Michigan State University, will kick off the series on March 3. Following him, Sean Tatol will present on March 5, Julia Arredondo on March 19, and Heather Quinn, an assistant professor of design, artificial intelligence, and human-computer interaction at DePaul University, on March 25.

The School of Music at Illinois State University is also set to present a variety of events in March 2025. The month begins with a performance of "Dido and Aeneas" in the concert hall on March 1 at 7 p.m., followed by the "Evening of Brass" concert on March 2 at 6 p.m. The month will feature several guest artist recitals, including Jennifer Carpenter on cello on March 3 at 7:30 p.m., Trio Speranza on March 20 at 7:30 p.m., and Pei-I Wang on piano on March 22 at 4 p.m.

Charles W. Bolen Faculty Recitals will be another highlight, with Sonneries performing on March 4 at 8 p.m., and Dr. Katherine Lewis presenting a viola recital on March 19 at 7 p.m. The Wind Symphony & Symphonic Winds Concert is scheduled for March 21 at 8 p.m. Additionally, the RED NOTE New Music Festival will take place from March 24 to March 27 at both Kemp Recital Hall and the CPA Concert Hall. The month will conclude with the Cello Popper Concert on March 30 at 4 p.m. at Kemp Recital Hall, followed by the Wind Symphony Concert at the CPA Concert Hall on the same day at 4 p.m.

Moreover, the School of Theatre, Dance & Film has announced several performances for March 2025. The musical "The Prom" will be staged from March 1 to March 6, with shows at 7:30 p.m. on March 1-4, and additional performances at 2 p.m. on March 1 and 2, all taking place at the Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall. Later in the month, "Borrowed Babies" will be performed on March 28 and 29 at 7:30 p.m., March 30 at 2 p.m., and April 2-5 at 7:30 p.m. at Westhoff Theatre.

The School of Creative Technologies will host Mary Pat McGuire for the David Brian Williams Creative Technologies Visiting Artist Series on April 11 at noon, held at University Galleries in Uptown Normal. This diverse and dynamic array of events highlights Illinois State University’s commitment to enriching the cultural and educational experiences of its students and the broader community.
