India Post’s 'Gyan Post' to Revolutionize Delivery of Textbooks and Learning Materials

Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia Announces 'Gyan Post' for Accessible Education

Recognising the critical need to make education accessible and affordable, India Post has taken a significant step by introducing 'Gyan Post', a service designed to facilitate the delivery of educational, social, cultural, and religious books across India at affordable rates. Announcing the publication of the gazette notification for this initiative, the Hon’ble Minister of Communications and Development of North Eastern Regions, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, highlighted that the service reflects India Post’s ongoing efforts to reach learners in even the most remote corners of the country.

It was explained that 'Gyan Post' has been developed to align with the objectives of the new education policy, serving as a delivery mechanism to ensure education is not hindered by geography or affordability. Designed to promote learning and knowledge-sharing, the service offers cost-effective options to send books and printed educational materials via India’s extensive postal network, thus encouraging broader access. Rates for the service start as low as ₹20 for packets up to 300 grams and go up to ₹100 for packets weighing up to 5 kilograms (taxes as applicable). Additionally, all parcels under 'Gyan Post' will be trackable and transported through surface mode to ensure economical delivery.

Strict guidelines govern the service, permitting only non-commercial, educational materials that meet specific criteria, such as carrying the name of the printer or publisher. Publications of a business nature or those containing advertisements (beyond incidental announcements) will not be accepted. This ensures that 'Gyan Post' remains focused on bridging the education gap. India Post stated that the service will be operational at all departmental post offices nationwide from 1st May, 2025. The organisation described 'Gyan Post' as an embodiment of its commitment to empowering individuals and communities by making learning resources affordable and accessible. In essence, 'Gyan Post' symbolises a transformative step towards a more educated and equitable future for all.

Editor's Note:

India Post’s launch of ‘Gyan Post’ marks a significant step towards bridging the educational gap in India, especially for students in remote and underserved regions. By offering an affordable and efficient way to deliver educational resources like textbooks, preparation guides, and cultural books, this initiative directly addresses two critical barriers to education: cost and accessibility. In a country where geography and limited resources often hinder students' academic progress, ‘Gyan Post’ has the potential to transform lives. This service ensures that no student is deprived of learning opportunities simply because they are far from urban centres or cannot afford high delivery charges for essential study materials. Moreover, the trackable and reliable delivery system of ‘Gyan Post’ adds an extra layer of convenience for students, helping them plan their studies with confidence. At rates starting as low as ₹20, it substantially reduces financial burdens, allowing students to focus on academics rather than logistics.

Skoobuzz commends this remarkable initiative, highlighting how it embodies a greater vision of promoting education and embracing inclusivity. India Post's efforts in launching this service deserve recognition for their dedication to bridging educational gaps and delivering a meaningful impact on students' academic pursuits.
