University of Leeds to Provide Financial Aid for Exceptional International Students Through Scholarships

The University of Leeds, ranked among the top 100 universities globally, has introduced the International Excellence Scholarships for international students, offering up to a 50% reduction in tuition fees. These merit-based scholarships are designed to recognize exceptional academic achievements and are available to 500 outstanding students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The scholarships cover 10%, 25%, or 50% of tuition fees. The eligible candidates must submit their applications by May 16, 2025, at 5 pm (UK time).

The eligibility criteria for the scholarships include a strong academic record, the demonstration of leadership qualities, and a commitment to contributing to a diverse and dynamic community at the University of Leeds. Professor Manuel Barcia, the Dean of Global Engagement, expressed enthusiasm about the initiative, highlighting that it reflects the university’s commitment to ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent talented students from accessing transformative education.

To apply for the Master's International Excellence Scholarship, candidates must be international students applying for an eligible master’s program for the 2025-26 academic year. Importantly, applicants do not need an offer of admission before applying for the scholarship. They must be self-funded or partially funded, hold a strong academic record, and have earned or be on track to earn a bachelor’s degree with at least a 2:1 (Hons) or equivalent qualification. Furthermore, applicants must demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and professional skills, which can be shown through extracurricular activities or work experience.

Candidates will be notified of the scholarship outcome by June 13, 2025, and those selected must accept the award within the specified timeframe in their scholarship letter. To apply, candidates must first submit an application for a master’s program. Afterward, they need to complete the scholarship application form online. Detailed information regarding eligibility, the application process, and deadlines can be found on the official scholarship webpage. It is recommended that candidates apply early, as scholarships may be allocated before the official application deadline.
