New Pharmacy Courses Launching at Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University for 2024-25!

Be A Pharmacist : IP University Expands Pharmacy Education with Brand New PCI-Approved Courses!

The Pharma Sector is a 42 billion dollar domestic revenue generating sector, which contributes 1.72% of India’s GDP. The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has approved new pharmacy courses at Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) beginning in the 2024–2025 academic year. PCI is the statutory agency under the Government of India's Ministry of Health and Family Welfare that oversees pharmacy education regulations in the country. With a total seat intake of 220, the IPU's new courses for 2024 include DPharm, Bhparm, and MPharm in pharmacology, pharmaceutics, phytopharmacy and phytomedicine, and pharmaceutical chemistry. These programs will address the demand for skilled manpower in the pharmaceutical industry.

 

These courses will be offered initially on campus by the university and administered by the Center of Excellence in Pharmaceutical Sciences (CEPS). Only two postgraduate programs, the MSc in Medicinal Chemistry and Drug Design and the MSc in Bioinformatics and PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry are now offered by CEPS. According to Indian Express, there will be 60 seats available for the DPharm program, 100 seats for BPharm, and 15 seats each for MPharm in pharmaceutics, pharmacology, phytopharmacy and phytomedicine, and pharmaceutical chemistry.


IP University 2024 Admission Requirements for Pharmacy Programs: 

Admission to BPharm will first be determined by IPU CET scores, with the remaining seats being awarded based on NEET scores. Admission to DPharm will be granted based on excellence in the qualifying class 12 test. Additionally, students who score well on the GPAT will be admitted to MPharm programs before CET applicants.
