Kathmandu University Pioneers Global Academic Cooperation with 'Credit Transfer' Initiative

Kathmandu University's (KU) introduction of the 'credit transfer' system represents a notable advancement in international education, offering new opportunities for students worldwide. This new policy, which allows the transfer of credits from various international universities, represents a leap towards academic flexibility and global academic cooperation. The Acting Vice-Chancellor of KU, Prof. Dr Achyut Wagle, stated that the decision came after discussions with university officials and students facing challenges abroad. The initiative would allow students to continue their studies by providing proof of completing a semester overseas. Although study fees have yet to be decided, Dr. Wagle mentioned that students could transfer their remaining semesters to KU and receive a degree from the university. He added that arrangements would be made for students who completed their studies elsewhere to take exams at KU.

Despite lacking a formal agreement with KiIT University, the Acting VC stressed the need for diplomatic and academic discussions to resolve the issue. He assured that fees would be managed to ease the process for students transferring courses and taking exams at KU. Shyam Sundar Khadka, the associate dean of the KU School of Engineering, stated that they would support this policy, as the necessary arrangements had been made to allow students who had completed courses at various universities to sit for exams at Kathmandu University. The system is set to provide unparalleled opportunities for academic continuity and growth for students worldwide.
