KIIT University Celebrates International Collaboration with Cricket Series Inauguration

Exciting Cricket Action at KIIT University: India vs. Australia in T20 Series

Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, is known for its innovative education and academic excellence. It hosts students from over 65 countries, creating a multicultural environment. The university emphasizes research, and innovation, and offers various extracurricular activities, sports facilities, and cultural events for holistic student development.

On December 2, the university hosted the inauguration of the International University Bilateral Cricket Series at the KIIT Cricket Stadium. Organized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), KIIT, and the Odisha Cricket Association, the event was inaugurated by Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT and KISS.

This is the university’s first hosting a bilateral cricket series featuring teams from India and Australia. Players from universities in both countries are competing in three T20 matches on December 2 and 3, followed by a one-day match on December 5. In addition, the university provides accommodation and hospitality for players, coaches, and officials. The inaugural ceremony was attended by dignitaries including Professor Baljit Singh Sekhon, Joint Secretary (Sports) of AIU; David Anton Sambood, Executive Member of the International University Sports Federation and Chair of University Sports Australia; and Dr. Gaganendu Dash, DG of Sports at KIIT.

In the opening match, India won the toss and chose to bowl. Australia set a target of 149 runs in 19.4 overs. India replied with 144 runs in 20 overs, losing 7 wickets, and Australia won by 5 runs. Kavvy Saini, Captain of the Australian Cricket Team, was named Man of the Match. On December 4, two T20 matches were played: the first at 9:30 AM and the second at 5:30 PM. The International University Bilateral Cricket Series at KIIT University brings together top university players from India and Australia, highlighting talent and sportsmanship. The event reflects KIIT's dedication to global collaboration and student development. With more exciting matches to come, the series is set to be a memorable sporting event.
