Madikeri MLA Manthar Gowda Praises Kodagu University's Pioneering Skill Development Initiative

Kodagu University, established in 2023 and located in Kushalnagar, Kodagu district, Karnataka, is a state university approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The university offers postgraduate and diploma programs in various disciplines, including Arts, Science, Commerce, and Management. They also aim to provide industry-based education, enhance students' personalities, and equip them with leadership and entrepreneurship skills.

In line with this, Kodagu district in-charge minister NS Bhoseraju emphasized the importance of students focusing on acquiring skills to improve their employment prospects.

During the launch of a skill development diploma course at Kodagu University, the minister addressed the students and emphasized that the employment landscape has drastically changed due to new technologies, which have altered job requirements. However, the state government has prioritized updating curricula to address these changes and implemented various schemes for skill enhancement. Furthermore, Madikeri MLA Manthar Gowda highlighted that opportunities for skill development alongside education are rare and praised the university for pioneering this initiative in the state, offering students free skill development opportunities. He advised students to continue focusing on skill enhancement even after securing employment. Vice Chancellor Ashok S. Alur was also present at the event.
