2024 LIBER Winter Event Focuses on Advancing Library Services through Technology
Over 100 Library Professionals Discuss Digital Transformation at the 2024 LIBER Winter Event

The University of Maribor Library and Rectorate hosted over 100 research library representatives across Europe for the LIBER Winter Event on November 26th and 27th, 2024. This annual event served as a platform for library professionals to exchange ideas, collaborate, and address challenges in the field. Under the theme "Expanding Horizons: Research Libraries and Social Engagement," the event reinforced LIBER’s mission to promote collaboration and innovation within the library community.
Over the two days, attendees engaged in workshops and discussions covering key topics such as innovation in library services, improving the discoverability of open educational resources, and advancing open access and scholarly communication. These sessions encouraged learning, knowledge sharing, and collaborative problem-solving. Participants left the event with valuable insights, new connections, and inspiration to drive meaningful change in their institutions.
Dr. Dan Podjed, a senior researcher, delivered a keynote on "The Relevance of the Book in the Age of Digital Transformation," sparking discussions on the evolving role of libraries in the digital age. The event also combined professional development with networking and cultural experiences. Attendees enjoyed a gala dinner at the Slovene National Theatre Maribor and explored the Old Vine House, showcasing Maribor's rich cultural heritage. The University of Maribor Library was honored to host the event and thanked all contributors and participants for their valuable engagement.
