In an impressive feat of academic excellence, the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) has been recognised as the top university in London and the sixth globally for Social Science and Management subjects. This remarkable achievement, highlighted in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025, reinforces LSE's prestigious standing and its unwavering commitment to shaping the future through world-class education, research, and innovation.
Furthermore, LSE has secured top-five rankings in five subjects: Geography (2nd), Philosophy (2nd), Development Studies (3rd), Sociology (5th), and Politics and International Studies (5th). Additionally, LSE ranks in the top ten for History, Law, Communications and Media Studies, Social Policy and Administration, Accounting and Finance, and Economics and Econometrics. These rankings, part of the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025, are based on academic reputation, employer reputation, and research impact from over 1,700 institutions.
Moreover, these rankings align with other recent league tables. In the autumn, LSE was named the top university in the UK and 'University of the Year 2025' by the Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide. It was also ranked as the top university in London for the fifth consecutive year in the Guardian University Guide 2025.
