Manu Bhaker, the extraordinary Indian shooter, has made her mark on Olympic history with her unwavering dedication and unmatched talent. At the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, Manu Bhaker, representing India in shooting, made history by securing two bronze medals. She achieved the distinction of becoming the first Indian woman shooter to win a medal at any level of competition this year, accomplishing this feat in the women's 10-meter air pistol event. After that, she won another bronze in the mixed 10m air pistol competition alongside Singh Sarabjot. Bhaker was born in Goria village, which is tucked away in the Jhajjar area of Haryana, attended Lady Shri Ram College For Women (Delhi University) (LSR–DU), and earned a BA (Hons) in Political Science there. She is currently enrolled in Punjab University to pursue a degree in public administration. Punjab University is ranked number 25 and Delhi University is ranked eleventh in the NIRF rating 2023.
Manu Bhaker demonstrated early prowess in shooting sports. Her breakout moment came in 2017 when she clinched a silver medal at the Asian Junior Championships, marking her first major victory. Subsequently, she astounded the shooting world by securing nine gold medals at the 2017 National Games, surpassing established shooter Heena Sidhu. Her meteoric rise continued into 2018 when, at just 16 years old, she set a new record and won a gold medal in the Women’s 10-meter air pistol event at the ISSF World Cup in Guadalajara, Mexico.
