University of Sussex Recognizes Noel Tata's Business Achievements with Honorary Doctorate

Celebrating Leadership: Noel Tata Receives Honorary Doctorate from the University of Sussex

In recognition of his achievements and contributions to the business world, the University of Sussex awarded an honorary doctorate to Noel Tata, a prominent leader within the Tata Group. The honorary degree was presented to Noel Tata by Professor Sasha Roseneil, Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of Sussex, during a private ceremony held in Mumbai on Thursday, January 30, 2024. Noel Tata, who graduated in 1978 with a degree in economics, holds several leadership roles within the Tata Group, including Chairman of Trent, Voltas, Tata International, and Tata Investment Corporation, as well as Vice Chairman of Tata Steel and Titan Company Limited. In 2024, he was appointed Chairman of the Tata Trusts, the philanthropic arm of the group.

Professor Roseneil praised Tata’s contributions and expressed her delight in awarding him the honorary doctorate. She recognized his impact on global business leadership, noting his respect in the corporate world and advocacy for ethical practices. The Vice-Chancellor highlighted the positive influence Tata has had on the Indian economy and communities both in India and abroad.
