NUML Sets Course for Global Leadership in Education Through International Collaborations
New Opportunities for Students and Faculty: NUML's Strategic Partnerships with Turkish Institutions
Oct 24, 2024 |
The National University of Modern Languages recently collaborated with Turkish universities such as Düzce University, Sakarya University, and Istanbul University and signed several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) to promote academic and research cooperation. NUML's rector, Maj Gen Shahid Mahmood Kayani HI(M), briefed the Heads of Departments and Directors about the recent delegation's visit to Turkiye. These partnerships will create new opportunities for students and faculty, offering them valuable global experiences.
The key areas of collaboration included several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) established at Düzce University. These agreements encompassed student and faculty exchange programs, summer camp teacher training, joint conferences, and research collaborations. A notable aspect of these agreements is the provision for faculty members from NUML’s Urdu and English departments to teach at Düzce University, fully funded by the host country.
At Sakarya University, the discussions focused on academic and faculty exchange programs and joint research, particularly emphasizing cybersecurity. Istanbul University, the MoUs included arrangements for joint conferences, research partnerships, and faculty exchanges, with plans for NUML to send Urdu professors to the university. It is important to implement these MoUs quickly to ensure that both students and faculty can benefit. These partnerships not only enhance academic ties but also offer students study abroad opportunities through programs like Erasmus.
Additionally, NUML plans to leverage its language expertise by providing short language courses to its Turkish partner universities and will organize a joint conference with Düzce University in Spring 2025. Düzce University’s innovative business model integrates various businesses within the university. NUML will consider similar strategies to generate revenue and align its business ventures with research and innovation.
NUML’s step to rise as a global leader in higher education and the partnership with Turkish universities is just the beginning of a broader initiative to create a brighter future for students and faculty. To ensure the effective execution of these collaborations, the immediate establishment of a dedicated international office at NUML was announced. This office will manage all international engagements and monitor the progress of implementing the MoUs.
