Emerging Colleges Make Mark as New Top Producers of Fulbright Scholars and Students

Diverse US Institutions Acknowledged for Contributions to Fulbright Programs

The Fulbright Program, renowned as one of the largest and most prominent international exchange programs, offers US students and scholars unparalleled opportunities to study, teach, and conduct research abroad. For the 2024-2025 academic year, the US Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) has recognized 130 US higher education institutions for their exceptional contributions to the Fulbright US Student and Scholar Programs. These awards honour the institutions' unwavering commitment to fostering global engagement and cross-cultural exchange, as well as their dedication to academic excellence and research opportunities.

This year's recognition appreciated both established universities and emerging colleges for their impact on American communities and the global stage. The Fulbright Top Producing Institutions were categorized by Carnegie Classification. Notably, Ohio State University excelled in the Doctoral category for producing a high number of Fulbright US Scholars, while Pratt Institute led the Special Focus category. Brown University and Oberlin College were recognized for their success in producing Fulbright US Students. Both institutions stood out in the US Student category for recent graduates and early-career professionals engaged in research, study, or teaching abroad.

Ohio State University (Ohio) was recognized as a top producer for US Scholars in the Doctoral category, while California State University-Channel Islands (California) led the Master's category. College of the Holy Cross (Massachusetts) topped the Baccalaureate category, and Miami Dade College (Florida) was acknowledged in the associate classification. Additionally, Pratt Institute (New York) was a top producer in the Special Focus category.

Brown University (Rhode Island) and the University of North Georgia (Georgia) were recognized as top producers in the Doctoral and Master's categories for US Students. Emerging institutions such as Florida Polytechnic University, George Mason University, and Southern Connecticut State University were highlighted as new top producers for US Scholars. Furthermore, Brandeis University and Coastal Carolina University were recognized as top new producers for US Students. These acknowledgements underscore the important role that diverse US institutions play in global exchange and the Fulbright Program’s continued impact on diplomacy and leadership development. The recognition serves as a testament to the commitment of these institutions to promoting global engagement and fostering future leaders.
