Bangladeshi Students to Receive UK Visas in Digital Format

Digital Shift in UK Visa Policy Enhances Security and Efficiency

In a major shift towards digitalisation, the United Kingdom has revised its immigration procedures, signalling the end of physical visa stickers for most international students. With effect from 15 July 2025, Bangladeshi nationals applying for student visas will be among those impacted by the transition to e-visas, reflecting the UK Government’s commitment to streamlining and securing its immigration system through digital means.

From mid-July onwards, Bangladeshi students applying for UK student visas will no longer receive a vignette in their passports. Instead, they will be issued an e-visa, which serves as a secure digital record of their immigration status. This record will be linked to their passport and accessible via a UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) account. Consequently, students must create or update their UKVI account before travelling, ensuring that their passport details are accurately reflected in the system.

In addition, it has been confirmed that Biometric Residence Permits (BRPs) and Biometric Residence Cards (BRCs) have already been replaced by e-visas. The UK Government has further clarified that wet ink stamps and other physical endorsements in passports will be gradually phased out. Nevertheless, dependents of students and applicants under non-sponsored visa categories will continue to receive physical visa stickers.

Authorities have explained that the e-visa system is designed to enhance both security and operational efficiency. Immigration status will be verified digitally by universities, landlords, and border officials through a share code generated from the UKVI account. Therefore, students are advised to carry either a printed or digital copy of their visa decision letter when travelling. Moreover, if a passport is renewed before departure, the UKVI account must be updated accordingly to avoid any discrepancies. This transition marks a significant step in the UK’s efforts to modernise its immigration procedures. Although the shift to digital documentation may require initial adjustment, it is expected to offer greater convenience, reliability, and transparency for international students. Bangladeshi applicants are strongly encouraged to familiarise themselves with the new system and complete all necessary preparations well in advance of travel.

Editor’s Note

The UK’s move to e-visas is an important change for international students, especially those from Bangladesh. By replacing physical visa stickers with a secure digital system, the UK government is taking a major step to modernise how visas are handled. This change improves efficiency and highlights the growing need for digital skills and awareness among students. Applicants, their families, and education advisers must stay informed and prepared. Students now have more responsibility to make sure their information is correct, their UKVI account is updated on time, and all steps are followed properly. While the change may be a bit challenging at first, it is expected to make the visa process smoother and safer in the long run.

Skoobuzz believes that as international education keeps changing, these reforms show the need to stay flexible and ready. Schools, colleges, and other partners must support students through this shift so that studying abroad remains fair and easy to access for everyone.
