Chester Named Best in North West for Teaching, Facilities, and Student Support

University of Chester Recognised for Excellence in Personal Tutoring and Employability

The University of Chester has once again earned national recognition for its student-focused approach, securing top positions in the 2025 StudentCrowd University Awards. Known for its commitment to personalised academic support and career development, the university was ranked third in the UK for Personal Tutors and tenth for Job Prospects, both categories based entirely on verified student reviews.

These awards, compiled from over 32,000 reviews submitted between May 2023 and May 2025, reflect genuine student experiences across key aspects of university life, including teaching quality, support services, and employability. Chester has consistently placed in the top ten for Personal Tutors over the past three years, underscoring its sustained excellence in academic guidance.

Students praised the university’s supportive environment, with many highlighting the quality of personal and academic mentoring, as well as the strong emphasis on employability embedded within and beyond the curriculum. Vice-Chancellor Professor Eunice Simmons attributed the recognition to the dedication of personal tutors, careers staff, course leaders, and support teams, emphasising the value of student feedback in shaping institutional progress.

In addition to its StudentCrowd accolades, Chester received two gold awards in the 2025 Whatuni Student Choice Awards (WUSCAs) for its support of international and postgraduate students, along with a bronze for Student Support. The university was also named the best in the North West, topping regional rankings in Facilities, Teaching Quality, and Support, and earning runner-up positions in Career Prospects and Accommodation. These achievements reaffirm Chester’s reputation as one of the UK’s most supportive and career-ready universities.

Editor’s Note:

The University of Chester’s recent awards in the 2025 StudentCrowd and Whatuni Student Choice Awards show the result of hard work, good planning, and a strong focus on helping students succeed. In a time when many universities are competing for attention, Chester has stood out by offering personal support, preparing students for jobs, and creating a welcoming learning environment. Being ranked third in the UK for Personal Tutors and tenth for Job Prospects shows that Chester cares about guiding students and helping them find work after graduation. The gold awards for supporting international and postgraduate students, and its top position in the North West for teaching, facilities, and student support, also show how much the university values its students. Chester builds strong ties with the community, supports learning through technology, and helps students gain real-world experience. Its Business School, named the best in the UK, has worked with over 1,600 small businesses and created many student projects. The university also encourages students to be active and responsible members of society. Other universities can learn from Chester by listening to students, offering strong support, and making sure courses match the real world. Places like Worcester, Lincoln, and Northumbria have also succeeded by meeting student needs and focusing on their regions.

Skoobuzz believes that Chester’s example highlights the value of student-centred education and the importance of maintaining high standards in support and teaching.
