USD's Chapman Family Foundation Program Video Recognized for Outstanding Fundraising Efforts

The University of San Diego is a private university established in 1949 in California and offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses through its various schools. It not only provides strong academic programs but is also committed to social justice and community development. The marketing team in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University has received the Council for Advancement & Support of Education (CASE) “Best of District VII Award” for their video titled "Chapman Family Foundation International Program at USD: Japan 2023," awarded in the Fundraising and Stewardship category.

Produced by Marketing and Communications Director Michelle Kennedy and edited by Creative Manager Tanya Aubin, the video effectively captures the essence of the experiential learning opportunity in Kyoto and Tokyo during spring break 2023. Kennedy conducted interviews with students and noted their genuine reactions as they explored historical landmarks and attended lectures on international climate policy. This dynamic approach highlights the contrasts between individualist and collectivist cultures, providing viewers with an insightful perspective on their experiences.

The Chapman Family Foundation International Program encompasses two classes: Intercultural Communication, led by Professor Leeva Chung, and Politics in the Environment, taught by Associate Professor Andrew Tirrell. Both courses dedicated considerable focus to Japan throughout the spring semester, enriching students' understanding of the country's unique cultural and political landscape. The opportunity for this trip was made possible through the generous support of the Chapman Family Foundation.

The video not only showcases the enriching experiences available to students at USD but also summarises the incredible learning activities that took place during the trip.
