Vietnam and UAE Forge Stronger Ties in Sci-Tech Research and Improving Socio-Economic Conditions!

Strengthening Bonds: Vietnam and UAE Advance in Science and Technology Research

The United Arab Emirates (UAE), welcomed the presence of a working delegation headed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Linh, Vice Chairman of the Scientific Council of Central Party Agencies and Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council from September 1-7. This visit was intended to foster the sharing of experiences in innovation, digital transformation, and policymaking to improve the quality of scientific research and advisory services provided by central-party agencies.

Several working sessions were held by the delegation with notable UAE establishments during their visit, such as the United Arab Emirates University, Khalifa University of Science and Technology, TRENDS Research and Advisory, the Museum of the Future, and other UAE-affiliated science and technology organizations under the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology. The hosts discussed their nation's outstanding accomplishments and experiences in scientific innovation and research, emphasizing artificial intelligence, large-scale data systems, and human resources. They also notified the role of quality human resources in major research institutions and universities and also talked about the procedures and laws for converting and applying scientific research outputs to improving socio-economic conditions.

Implementing science and technology projects and strategies for startup formation and growth were also covered in the workshops. The UAE side put out several proposals to improve information exchange, host cooperative seminars, and carry out scientific research between the two nations. The delegation also had talks at the Vietnamese Embassy in the United Arab Emirates while on the trip.

Vietnam and the United Arab Emirates have strong economic tie-ups as in the first seven months of this year, their bilateral trade reached around USD 4 billion, up 47% from the previous year. In areas like the economy, trade, investment, innovation, renewable energy, logistics, technology, tourism, and agriculture, both countries are committed to advancing comprehensive cooperation. They are concentrating especially on fortifying their bilateral ties and advancing the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) negotiations.
