Harnessing AI for Future Innovations: Altair and Cranfield University Partner Up

The aerospace and robotics industries are on the brink of a major change, ready to use the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI). By adding AI technology, these industries can reach new heights in efficiency, safety, and creativity. Altair, a computational intelligence company based in Troy, Michigan, and Cranfield University in the U.K. have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore and expand the use of artificial intelligence (AI), simulation, and data analytics in the aerospace and robotics sectors. The partnership will also provide support to students, researchers, and startups looking to leverage computational intelligence within these industries.  Pietro Cervellera, senior vice president of aerospace and defence at Altair, expressed that Cranfield University is a recognized leader and innovator in aerospace and other fields. He emphasized that the MoU marks the beginning of efforts to develop breakthroughs and help organizations harness the potential of simulation, data analytics, and AI in aerospace.

Professor Antonios Tsourdos, director of AI, robotics, and space at Cranfield University, stated that they were excited about collaborating with Altair to identify ways to integrate technologies that would support students, research projects, and accelerate startups at Cranfield. He mentioned their anticipation of significant achievements from their joint efforts and looked forward to working with Altair’s experts to drive innovation in next-generation aerospace technologies.

The agreement was made at a time when the convergence of AI, machine learning, data analytics, and simulation is becoming increasingly crucial in fostering innovations in fields such as autonomous space exploration, Earth observation, telecommunications, and defence.
