ECA Partners with Top Universities to Create Advanced Education Hubs in India

UniQuad: Bringing World-Class Education to India's Vibrant Landscape

The Education Centre of Australia (ECA) is a multi-sector education provider established in 2006. ECA partners with prominent UK and Australian universities to run managed campuses and embedded international colleges, offering a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Their mission is to provide high-quality education and support services to students, helping them achieve their academic and career goals.

Recently, ECA announced the launch of a new division called UniQuad. This division introduces top globally ranked Australian and UK university partners to India's vibrant education landscape. With more UK and Australian universities planning to establish branch campuses, research centres, and education hubs in major Indian cities, educational enterprises are increasingly focusing on multi-university campus investments across the country. Rupesh Singh, CEO of ECA, highlighted that UniQuad initiatives would provide Indian students with access to globally recognized courses and career pathways, bridging the gap between education and job opportunities. In collaboration with UK and Australian universities, UniQuad plans to set up advanced education hubs in cities like Bangalore, Delhi, and Ahmedabad.

The campuses will be developed through a partnership with a Singapore-based private equity group specializing in infrastructure. ECA's statement revealed that each UniQuad campus will feature three universities around a central quad, with comprehensive student support services. Initial plans are underway for campuses in Delhi and Bengaluru. While ECA maintains partnerships with several Australian universities, including Victoria University, the University of Tasmania, the University of Sunshine Coast, Charles Sturt University, and the University of Canberra, it has also collaborated with the UK’s London Metropolitan University to establish the ECA International College at the university’s North London campus.

The education provider brings the top 500 globally ranked Australian and UK universities to Indian cities, offering diverse undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Students at UniQuad will also have access to joint research projects, scholarships, internships, and career services. ECA is not alone in exploring India’s offshore expansion, with organizations like GEDU providing academic oversight and quality assurance for international universities, especially British institutions. ECA’s initiative comes as Australian universities face stricter regulations on international student enrollments, leading organizations like Universities Australia to push for expanded offshore delivery and a new international education strategy. Deakin University and the University of Wollongong have campuses in GIFT City, while Western Sydney University plans to open a campus in Noida, likely under University Grants Commission (UGC) rules. WSU’s announcement aligns with the Innovative Research Universities (IRU) group, which plans a consortium campus in Haryana.

India is a key market for Australian universities’ offshore expansion. Monica Kennedy, head of Austrade South Asia, praised the "innovative TNE models" between Australia and India at The PIE Live India 2025 in New Delhi. Meanwhile, five UK universities, including the University of Southampton, have announced plans to establish branch campuses in India, some under GIFT City and others under UGC rules, with Southampton's campus set to open in August 2025. While many view this as an opportunity to provide affordable and accessible education to Indian and South Asian students, others have criticized the move, citing the growing financial challenges faced by UK universities.
