Bath Outperforms UK Median in Graduate Job Prospects, HESA Data Reveals
University of Bath Ranks Sixth Nationally for Graduate Employment Outcomes
Aug 11, 2025 |
Across the UK, graduate employment continues to serve as a key measure of higher education impact. According to the latest Graduate Outcomes Survey (GOS) from the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA), 82% of 2022/23 graduates were in employment or unpaid work 15 months after graduation, with 59% in full-time roles and 66.3% of working-age graduates employed in high-skilled occupations.
Against this national backdrop, the University of Bath has emerged as a leading institution for graduate employment. For the 2022/23 graduating cohort, 89% of Bath’s full-time UK-domiciled first-degree graduates in paid UK employment were working in high-skilled roles 15 months after completing their studies. This figure notably surpasses the Universities UK (UUK) median of 72%, positioning Bath sixth nationally among UUK institutions.
Commenting on the results, Helen Stringer, Director of Employability and Student Success at Bath, emphasised the value of a Bath education and the strong demand for its graduates. The university’s performance is further reflected in its rankings across major UK league tables: third in the Daily Mail University Guide 2025 for high-skilled employment, fifth in the Guardian University Guide 2025 for career prospects, sixth in the Complete University Guide 2026 for graduate prospects, and seventh in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2025 for graduate outcomes.
The Graduate Outcomes Survey, the UK’s largest study of graduates conducted 15 months post-graduation, also placed Bath among top-performing institutions such as Imperial College London, the London School of Economics, and the University of Cambridge. Moreover, the “Graduate Voice” measure revealed that 81% of Bath graduates felt their current roles aligned with their plans, ranking the university 16th nationally, just behind Oxford and Cambridge at 82%. This alignment underscores Bath’s sustained investment in employability through its dedicated strategy, which equips students with the skills needed for long-term career success and supports their professional aspirations. Bath’s consistent performance affirms its reputation as one of the UK’s most successful universities for graduate outcomes and career readiness.
Editor’s Note:
Graduate employment is more than a statistical measure; it is a clear indicator of how effectively universities prepare students for professional life. Recent data from HESA reinforces a widely held view within the sector that the University of Bath is fulfilling its commitment to student success. With 89% of its graduates securing high-skilled roles, Bath is not merely exceeding the national median but establishing a benchmark for excellence. This achievement is not an isolated occurrence. Bath’s sustained presence across leading national league tables reflects a deep institutional understanding that employability is not an optional enhancement but an essential element of higher education. The strong alignment between graduate roles and long-term career ambitions underscores the university’s strategic focus and comprehensive student support. In an increasingly competitive sector, Bath distinguishes itself as a leader.
As per Skoobuzz, these outcomes serve as a reminder that employability should not be treated as a promotional slogan but as a core responsibility of every university committed to meaningful student outcomes.
