International Mobility at Gdańsk Tech: A Comprehensive Initiative for Global Collaboration

PROM Project Encourages Global Opportunities for Students, PhDs, and Staff

The International Relations Office at Gdańsk University of Technology has initiated the third round of international mobility under the PROM project, aiming to involve students, doctoral candidates, and staff members. While the call for applications is open to all groups, it was conveyed that employees might have their final opportunity to benefit from the program due to limited funds allocated for staff mobility. Notably, 26 out of the 40 staff mobility slots have already been awarded, significantly reducing availability in this round.

Regarding the timeline, applications can be submitted between April 29 and May 14, with forms accessible starting April 29. Following this, the selection committee will review applications from May 15 to May 24, and results are expected to be announced on May 24 or 25. The PROM project encompasses diverse activities, including outgoing and incoming mobility for students and doctoral candidates to attend summer and winter schools (conducted on-site or in hybrid formats), participation in international conferences, thesis research at partner universities, access to specialised laboratory equipment, and study visits for staff at partner institutions.

In terms of scope, the project funds approximately 250 mobilities, which include 40 outgoing mobilities for Gdańsk Tech staff (with 26 slots already utilized), 30 incoming mobilities for foreign university staff, 80 outgoing mobilities for doctoral candidates, 30 incoming mobilities for doctoral candidates from abroad, 49 outgoing mobilities for students, and 20 incoming mobilities for students from foreign institutions.

After publishing the list of funded applications, the International Relations Office plans to reassess the allocation of funds across mobility types and redistribute any unused resources. Furthermore, they have sought NAWA’s guidance regarding the possibility of reallocating funds among different mobility categories, and a decision is awaited. The PROM project represents a significant opportunity to foster international collaboration and academic growth, providing valuable experiences for students, researchers, and staff.

Editor’s Note:

The PROM project at Gdańsk University of Technology exemplifies the institution's commitment to fostering international collaboration and academic mobility. With opportunities for students, doctoral candidates, and staff, the program underscores the importance of expanding educational horizons and strengthening global partnerships. However, as the allocation of funds for staff mobility nears its limit, the urgency to seize these opportunities becomes even more pronounced.

Skoobuzz believes that by facilitating a wide range of activities, ranging from research mobility to participation in international conferences, the project enriches individual academic journeys and contributes to the broader goal of global academic exchange.
