HKU and Huawei Unveil Advanced 10 Gbps Wi-Fi 7 Smart Campus Network

Huawei and the University of Hong Kong (HKU) recently held a launch ceremony for their collaborative project, The University of Hong Kong & Huawei Global Smart Campus Network Showcase. This marks a significant step in their ongoing partnership to enhance campus network connectivity and infrastructure. Both parties are committed to creating a global model for smart campus network innovation, accelerating HKU’s digital transformation and inspiring universities worldwide.

The smart campus features a 10 Gbps network powered by Wi-Fi 7, covering key areas like libraries, Loke Yew Hall, classrooms, and HKU Station. This ensures stable connections for teaching applications in smart classrooms, study rooms, and auditoriums, supporting HKU's smart campus development. Both Huawei and HKU plan to continue their collaboration, focusing on enhancing smart networks and exploring areas such as network security, intelligent operations and maintenance (O&M), and integrating smart campus Internet of Things (IoT) solutions.

Jason He, President of Global Enterprise Data Communication Marketing and Solution Sales at Huawei, stated that the new digital solution meets various campus needs while prioritizing data security. This partnership aims to enhance HKU's network experience and global standing in higher education. It could also serve as a model for other Hong Kong universities to start their digital education journeys.
