Oct 11, 2024 |
“MARG” Mentoring for Academic Excellence and Research Guidance is a virtual mentoring series introduced by the Indian Embassy in Washington to connect Indian students and researchers with leading US universities. This initiative, coordinated with the Ministry of Education and the University Grants Commission of India, aimed to bridge the gap for students from smaller cities seeking opportunities at prestigious institutions in the US.
The objective of this project is to give Indian students and researchers exposure to the latest developments in their fields, along with access to knowledge, career guidance, and research opportunities from experts at renowned universities like Stanford, Purdue, the University of Maryland, and George Mason University. Indian-origin faculty from these institutions are participating in the first round of the "MARG" series.
Deputy Chief of Mission Ambassador Sripriya Ranganathan emphasized the growing academic, research, and industrial ecosystem in India, particularly in critical and emerging technologies like semiconductors, AI and machine learning, high-performance computing, quantum science and technology, bioengineering, clean energy, and advanced materials. These sectors are fostering deeper academic-research-technology partnerships between India and the US, supported by the leadership of both nations. Vice Chancellors and Directors from participating Indian universities expressed that these sessions would greatly benefit both students and faculty involved in teaching and research in these important fields.
