Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University Enhances Learning with MyLOFT App

Convenient Library Access: IP University's MyLOFT App Supports 5,000 Users

Digitalization has changed how we think and learn, reshaping our interaction with information. Instead of flipping through the pages of physical books, readers now swipe through digital content on devices like iPads and e-readers. This shift not only changes how students experience reading but also makes it easier to access a wide range of resources.

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University has recently unveiled a new digital library service that allows students, researchers, and faculty to access library resources remotely through the MyLOFT platform, which stands for My Library On Finger Tips. This innovative initiative enhances the accessibility of educational materials by enabling users to connect to the University Information Resource Center (UIRC) from any location. University officials pointed out that few institutions in the country currently offer such an app, emphasizing its uniqueness.

MyLOFT is a personal e-content library platform designed to help users access, organize, share, and read their digital content anytime and anywhere. It allows users to save and categorize e-content from various sources, including library-subscribed resources, websites, blogs, and RSS feeds. Key features of this platform include offline access, intuitive organization, and robust search capabilities, as well as the ability to highlight and listen to saved content. To take advantage of this service, users need to download the MyLOFT app, which supports simultaneous access for over 5,000 users. The app features a comprehensive database of library holdings, making it easy to find information about available books with just a single click.

This advancement not only streamlines the process for students but also helps researchers access necessary information from anywhere in the country. Through a training session faculty and students were guided in using the app, covering account creation, browser extension installation, and navigation of online library resources. Both campuses of IP University will benefit from this digital library facility, allowing users to meet their academic needs without having to visit the library in person.
