Globalizing Education: JMI and FinU Join Hands for International Collaboration

Academic Partnerships in Focus: FinU and JMI Discuss Future Collaborations

The Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, also known as FinU, is renowned for training economists, financiers, financial lawyers, and other professionals. The university offers a wide range of programs with a strong emphasis on research and international collaboration. Recently, FinU has shown keen interest in partnering with the highly distinguished Jamia Millia Islamia, a 104-year-old institution in India, highlighting its commitment to fostering global academic connections.

A six-member academic delegation from the Financial University visited Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) and met with JMI Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mazhar Asif. The delegation, led by Professor (Dr) Stanislav Prokofiev, Rector of the Financial University and an Honored Economist of the Russian Federation, included distinguished members such as Professor (Dr) Ekaterina Kameneva, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, and Professor (Dr) Grigory Ostapenko, Vice-Rector for Digitalization. The delegation also featured Dr Liliya Prikhodko, Head of the International Relations Department, Dr Pavel Seleznev, Dean of the Faculty of International Relations, and Daniil Shakhov, Deputy Head of the Executive Office.

During their visit, the delegation expressed their desire to establish a partnership with Jamia Millia Islamia, recognizing the university as one of the leading academic institutions in India. This aligns with FinU's broader internationalization strategy, which seeks to strengthen global academic collaborations. The primary goal of the visit was to explore potential areas for future cooperation and lay the foundation for joint initiatives. Professor Asif welcomed the delegation warmly and expressed optimism about the discussions, hoping they would lead to fruitful collaborations in the future.

In addition, the delegation was briefed by Professor Mukesh Ranjan, OSD of the Office of International Relations at JMI, and Professor Rashmi Doraiswamy from the MMAJ Academy of International Studies. The professors provided an in-depth overview of JMI’s rich history, its distinguished academic journey, and its current standing in the global educational landscape. The session concluded with a screening of a film highlighting the university's notable achievements. This visit underscores the growing interest in international academic partnerships and highlights JMI's commitment to fostering global ties with leading educational institutions. It also reflects FinU's strategic aim of expanding its international presence and academic collaborations.
