TRENDS and Korea University Collaborate on Artificial Intelligence and Joint Research Initiatives
New Partnership Between TRENDS and Korea University to Boost Academic and Research Engagement

Korea University and a delegation from TRENDS Research & Advisory recently came together to explore new opportunities to strengthen research and academic collaboration between their institutions. The discussions occurred during a panel session in Seoul, chaired by Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS, and Dr. Kim Dong-one, President of Korea University. The panel was attended by various academics and experts. Dr. Kim Dong-one, President of Korea University was awarded the TRENDS Research Medal at the beginning of the session, for his pivotal contribution to the establishment of TRENDS’ eighth global office on the university’s campus, and additionally the university provided valuable contribution and knowledge partnership during the international conference on artificial intelligence organized by the UAE Embassy in Seoul.
Dr. Kim was also presented with the book Cybersecurity in the Age of AI, which was launched by TRENDS’ Seoul Office at the start of its activities. During the session, both partners explored opportunities for collaboration, emphasizing the importance of establishing robust channels for scientific and intellectual dialogue between their research and academic institutions. They highlighted the need to advance shared goals and contribute to the progression of knowledge and future foresight. The discussion also underscored the significance of concentrating on specialized research in contemporary technological fields, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence and its various applications.
Dr. Al-Ali expressed his enthusiasm about TRENDS' collaboration with Korea University, recognizing it as one of Asia’s most esteemed institutions. He noted that the opening of TRENDS’ eighth global office on the university’s campus marks a significant advancement in strengthening cooperation between the two organizations and facilitating the exchange of expertise and personnel. He highlighted that this partnership is in line with TRENDS’ strategy to build strategic alliances with leading global academic institutions.
Further in his speech, he mentioned that the collaboration is expected to boost scientific and knowledge production across various fields, with a particular emphasis on the rapidly advancing domain of artificial intelligence.
Dr. Kim Dong-one, President of Korea University, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership with TRENDS and the establishment of its office on the university campus. He acknowledged TRENDS as one of the region’s leading research centers with a distinguished reputation in academia and research. Dr. Kim highlighted that the new office would bolster scientific research, enhance academic exchange, and facilitate greater engagement between students and researchers with TRENDS' expertise, thereby contributing to a more vibrant research environment.
Both parties agreed to strengthen their collaboration through various joint activities, including organizing workshops and conferences, facilitating the exchange of researchers and students, and conducting research in artificial intelligence and other areas of shared interest.
