Top UK Schools Showcase Opportunities for Nigerian Students at Abuja and Lagos Event

A selection of award-winning UK schools will host UK Boarding Schools Week in Abuja and Lagos from January 16 to 19. Organized by Mark Brooks Education and the UK’s Department for Business and Trade, the event will be held at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja and The Wheatbaker Hotel in Lagos. This year marks 17 years of connecting Nigerian families with top UK educational opportunities. The exhibition will showcase UK schools known for their academic excellence, top boarding facilities, and commitment to Nigerian students. It will also celebrate the achievements of Nigerian students at leading UK schools. Participating schools include Aldro Preparatory, Bromsgrove, Cardiff Sixth Form, Concord College, Glenalmond, Lancing, Malvern St James Girls’, and Queen Ethelburga’s Collegiate.
Other participating schools included St Peter’s School, York, The King’s School, Canterbury, and Wellington School. Dr Michael Truss from Concord College praised Nigerian students for excelling academically, achieving top A-levels, and gaining places at top universities. Diana Cree of Lancing College commended Nigerian students' charm, determination, and leadership, noting that three upper-sixth students had excelled in academics, sports, and debating.
Henrietta Lightwood from Cardiff Sixth Form College highlighted the significant contributions of Nigerian students, noting that they enhance school life and are attracted to Cardiff for its academic excellence and access to top universities. She mentioned that one Nigerian student had recently progressed to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, while another was studying engineering at Cambridge. Mark Brooks, the founder of Mark Brooks Education and co-organizer of the event, described the exhibition as a valuable opportunity for parents to invest in their children's education.
Mark Brooks emphasized that these schools have shown a strong commitment to Nigerian families, pointing out that many of them have had a Nigerian student as their head boy or head girl in recent years. He explained that the events offer parents the chance to explore ways to secure an exceptional education for their children.
