Virohan, one of India's leading healthcare education partners, has announced new collaborations with UPES (Dehradun), Rungta International Skills University (Bhilai), and Vivekananda Global University (Jaipur) to strengthen skill-based healthcare education across the country.

The partnerships expand Virohan's growing network of more than 20 higher education institutions, reinforcing its mission to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world healthcare careers.

Strengthening Industry-Ready Healthcare Education

The newly announced collaborations will introduce a range of undergraduate, postgraduate and certificate programmes designed around industry requirements.

Students enrolling from the 2026–27 academic session will have access to programmes in:

  • Physiotherapy
  • Optometry
  • Medical Laboratory Science
  • Medical Radiology & Imaging Technology
  • Anaesthesia & Operation Theatre Technology
  • Cosmetic Science
  • Healthcare Management
  • Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare
  • MBA in Healthcare Management

The universities will also offer short-term certification courses in areas such as Geriatric Care, Phlebotomy, Dispensing Optics and Patient Relations.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

One of the defining features of the collaboration is its emphasis on practical learning.

Students will benefit from:

  • Industry-aligned curriculum
  • VR-enabled practical training
  • Clinical exposure
  • Internship opportunities
  • Career-focused skill development

Virohan's healthcare partner network includes leading organisations such as Apollo Hospitals, Medanta, Dr. Lal PathLabs, Lenskart, Eye-Q Hospitals and Orange Health Labs, providing students with valuable hands-on experience before graduation.

Addressing India's Growing Healthcare Workforce Demand

India continues to face a significant shortage of Allied Healthcare Professionals (AHPs), who make up nearly 60% of the country's healthcare workforce.

Demand remains particularly high across:

  • Diagnostics
  • Medical imaging
  • Physiotherapy
  • Operation Theatre Technology
  • Patient care
  • Hospital administration

According to Virohan, these partnerships aim to address both the talent shortage and the employability gap by preparing graduates with practical, job-ready skills.

Supporting Women in Healthcare

Alongside its academic expansion, Virohan has also introduced the Women in Healthcare Initiative, featuring a ₹2 crore scholarship fund to encourage more women to pursue healthcare careers.

Eligible female students can receive scholarships ranging from ₹50,000 to ₹2 lakh, depending on their Class 12 academic performance. Notably, students can apply without requiring a NEET score.

A Growing National Network

The three new universities join Virohan's expanding network of partner institutions across India, including universities in Lucknow, Shillong, Ahmedabad, Pune, Nagpur, Bengaluru, Ghaziabad, Guwahati, Faridabad and Gwalior.

The expansion comes as India's healthcare sector continues to grow rapidly, increasing demand for skilled professionals and industry-focused education.

Editor's Note

Healthcare remains one of India's fastest-growing sectors, yet the shortage of trained Allied Healthcare Professionals continues to challenge hospitals and healthcare providers nationwide. While universities have expanded healthcare programmes over the years, employers frequently highlight a gap between academic knowledge and workplace readiness.

Virohan's partnership model seeks to address this disconnect by integrating practical training, internships and employer-driven curriculum into higher education. Combined with government investment in healthcare workforce development and initiatives such as scholarships for women, these collaborations reflect a broader shift towards employability-focused education that prepares students for real-world careers rather than classroom success alone.
