Neiphiu Rio Unveils 100% Scholarship Initiative for Nagaland's Sainik School Students

In a significant move to support the education of Nagaland students, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio announced on February 12 that the state would provide 100 per cent scholarships for students from Nagaland studying at Sainik Schools. The announcement was made during a gathering of military personnel and ex-servicemen, underscoring the state's commitment to fostering educational opportunities for its youth.

The event, which was attended by Lt Gen Abhijit S Pendharkar, General Officer Commanding the Spear Corps of the Army, saw over 1,300 ex-servicemen, war veterans, Veer Naris (war widows), and their families in attendance. During his address, Chief Minister Rio, the son of a soldier who served during the British India period, shared personal anecdotes from his family's military history and discussed various welfare schemes available to the people of Nagaland.

The Spear Corps organized a mega rally at Rangapahar Military Station in Dimapur for ex-servicemen from the armed forces and Assam Rifles. Chief Minister Rio described the event as a solemn occasion honouring the sacrifices of servicemen and their families, expressing admiration for their contributions to India's protection since independence.

Additionally, Rio highlighted the growing participation of Naga youths in the Indian Army and Assam Rifles, emphasizing the importance of Sainik Schools in shaping disciplined citizens. He shared his own experience of studying at Sainik School in Purulia and announced 100 per cent scholarships for Nagaland students at Sainik School Nagaland to promote excellence and discipline. This initiative underscores Nagaland's dedication to fostering educational excellence and discipline among its youth.
