Ahead of NEET-UG 2025, NMC Reinforces Zero-Tolerance Policy on Exam Fraud
Medical Admission Integrity at Stake: NEET-UG 2024 Investigations Deepen
May 06, 2025 |
In a decisive step to uphold fairness and integrity in medical admissions, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has reportedly taken strict action against candidates involved in irregularities during NEET-UG 2024. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is a nationwide examination that determines admission to medical colleges across India. According to an official source, the NMC has ordered the immediate suspension of 26 MBBS students allegedly found guilty of misconduct. Additionally, the admissions of 14 students for the 2024–25 academic session have reportedly been revoked due to their involvement in unfair practices during the entrance exam.
As investigations into the NEET-UG 2024 paper leak continue, officials revealed that the National Testing Agency (NTA) has identified multiple instances of malpractice. Consequently, 42 candidates have been barred from appearing for NEET-UG in 2024, 2025, and 2026, while nine others have been restricted from attempting the test in 2025 and 2026. Furthermore, the candidature of 215 students has been placed on hold pending further inquiry.
The action against these students is reportedly based on findings from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is overseeing the probe into the NEET-UG 2024 malpractice cases. An official source emphasised that, considering the gravity of the violations and their impact on the credibility of medical education, the NMC has directed concerned colleges and institutions to immediately suspend the accused students.
The Commission has reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy toward academic misconduct and reiterated its commitment to transparency, accountability, and ethical standards in medical admissions. The directive comes ahead of the NEET-UG 2025 exam, scheduled to take place on May 4. The recent crackdown highlights the NMC’s unwavering stance on ensuring a fair and merit-driven medical admission process.
Editor's Note:
The National Medical Commission's recent crackdown on NEET-UG 2024 malpractices sends a clear message—integrity in medical admissions is non-negotiable. With the suspension of students and the cancellation of admissions due to unfair practices, the NMC has demonstrated its firm commitment to transparency and accountability in medical education. The scale of malpractice uncovered—including a paper leak and widespread irregularities—raises serious concerns about the security of entrance exams and the credibility of the selection process. To uphold India’s high standards in medical education, it is essential to prioritise fair opportunities for deserving candidates. As the next NEET-UG exam approaches, the focus must shift toward restoring trust in the examination system and protecting it from future violations.
Skoobuzz commends the NMC's action as a step in the right direction; however, maintaining long-term integrity will require ongoing vigilance and systemic reform.
