Scholarship Program at Loughborough University Set to Empower Indian Athletes with £12,500 Fund

Loughborough University Launches Five-Year Scholarship to Aid Indian Athletes

Sports Scholarships play an important role in nurturing and developing athletic talent. Providing financial support allows making available necessary facilities so that athletes reach their full potential and achieve their goals at both national and international levels. Aman Dhall made a special announcement at Loughborough University in the United Kingdom after the closing ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics, during which India promoted its medalist. In commemoration of his late father, Virender Kumar Dhall, he established a new scholarship, amounting to GBP 12,500, for 5 years, intending to encourage Indian students at Loughborough University who are either participating internationally or on their path to representing India in sports.

This scholarship is open to students pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate, or PhD degrees, whether they are studying full-time or part-time at Loughborough University. The Virender Kumar Dhall Scholarship for Sporting Excellence is intended to help young athletes who are talented but encounter financial and other obstacles in their pursuit of athletic excellence. This annual scholarship provides up to £2,500 to enable athlete scholars to cover critical fees associated with their training and performance in high-level sports. It covers trial-related expenses such as travel, equipment, coaching, nutritional advice, gym memberships, and other resources required to support athletes.

Loughborough University has played a key role in the development of India’s youth sporting icon, Neeraj Chopra, and has also been a base for many distinguished international athletes, such as Lord Sebastian Coe, Adam Peaty OBE, and Paula Radcliffe MBE. Aman Dhall who earned his MSc in Sport Management from Loughborough University in 2010-11, had faced considerable financial obstacles early in his athletic career, which limited his potential to continue professional sports full-time. He was inspired by his experiences to support the next generation of Indian athletes through this scholarship, which is a tribute to honor his father’s dream of seeing him represent India in sports.

Editor's Note:

After facing financial constraints during his college time to pursue sports as a career and represent India, Aman was determined that such financial problems would not be faced by other talented athletes and they would surely earn honor for India, a significant development for aspiring Indian athletes, Loughborough University in the UK has launched a new five-year scholarship valued at £12,500. The scholarship underscores Loughborough’s commitment to fostering global sporting talent and honors the legacy of Virendra Kumar Dhall, inspiring the next generation of international sports stars.

Skoobuzz thanks Virender Kumar Dhall for this scholarship which will help many talented sportspersons financially.
