Financial Aid for Self-Funded International Students: Strathclyde Launches Scholarship Programme

New £7,000 Scholarship Scheme Announced for Science Masters Students at Strathclyde

The University of Strathclyde has launched the Faculty of Science International Master's Scholarships, providing £7,000 to support international students pursuing postgraduate studies in Physics. Each award covers one academic year and is directly deducted from tuition fees, easing financial pressure on self-funded students.

These scholarships cannot be deferred or transferred and are not available to students fully sponsored by government agencies or embassies. Eligible candidates must hold international fee status and apply for full-time, taught postgraduate programmes at the Glasgow campus for the 2025–26 academic year. The scholarship scheme opens on 2 June 2025 and closes on 31 July 2025, with awards granted on a rolling basis. Only one scholarship per student will be awarded, and decisions made by the Faculty of Science are final, with no appeals process.

Officials confirmed that numerous awards are available, and no separate application is required; all eligible offer holders who have paid their deposit will automatically be considered. This initiative reinforces the University of Strathclyde’s commitment to attracting talented students, fostering academic excellence, and expanding global access to high-quality postgraduate education.

Editor’s Note

The University of Strathclyde’s International Master's Scholarships offer vital financial support to international students pursuing postgraduate studies in Physics. By providing £7,000, automatically deducted from tuition fees, the scheme is designed to reduce financial stress and improve access to higher education for self-funded students.
Nevertheless, the non-deferrable and non-transferable nature of the award means prospective applicants must plan their academic timelines carefully. The exclusion of students with full government sponsorship ensures that the funding is directed toward those in genuine need of financial assistance. With no separate application process and automatic consideration for eligible offer holders, this initiative highlights Strathclyde’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and expanding global learning opportunities.

Skoobuzz recognises this effort as a significant step towards creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for international scholars.
