Uttar Pradesh Schools Unite for Enhanced Safety Measures

School associations from every district in Uttar Pradesh held a meeting under the name ‘United Front’ to give suggestions for school safety guidelines. The meeting was held with the director general of basic and secondary general, Vijay Karan Anand, and deputy director, Rajendra Prasad. Four names were given unanimously for the panel members being formed concerning the standard operating procedure (SOP) on school safety.

Anand assured the members of the United Front of Uttar Pradesh that all their suggestions would be taken in for the school safety guidelines. The new members include CBSE School Management Association, Uttar Pradesh, president Shyam Pachauri, Association of Private Schools, Uttar Pradesh president Atul Kumar, Purvanchal School Welfare Association president Deepak Madhok and Suditi Global School Director Anand Muni.  After the recent death of a female student in Azamgarh school, a seven-member panel has been set up to surveil the incidents of harassment and suicides in school. This panel will be led by Mahendra Dev, basic and secondary education director.

GD Goenka School chairman, Sarvesh Goel found the meeting very fruitful and the education department assured that the school safety guidelines will consider the interests of all the stakeholders. The private school association expressed gratitude towards the state government for setting up a committee that will formulate Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to curb an Azamgarh-like incident in any school.

Editor’s Note:

Safety in school is the prime concern of most institutions. Being a part of such organizations not only brings out the loopholes in the system but also is a collaborative space to brainstorm ways to cater to the same, reducing the number of incidents and ensuring a safer environment for students.
