CM Trophy 2024: Young Stars Shine in Chennai's Athletic Arena.
33,000 participants from Different Regions Competed for the CM Trophy

The CM Trophy 2024, held on 12 October, witnessed the participation of 33,000 participants from 38 districts, competing across five categories. School students, college students, public participants, government employees, and differently-abled persons, a total of 36 sports disciplines, participated in the event.
The sports activities started with the 100m race for school boys in which Jithin Arjunan from Dindigul clinched the gold medal with a time of 10.72 seconds. Shakthisharan from Coimbatore followed closely, taking the silver with a time of 10.78 seconds, while Harish S from Chennai secured the bronze medal, finishing in 11.10 seconds. In the 100m race for school girls at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Thiya from Coimbatore emerged victorious, winning the gold medal with a time of 12.41 seconds. K Monasri from Thriuvannamalai claimed the silver medal, finishing in 13.02 seconds, while Prema V from Tiruppur secured the bronze with a time of 13.04 seconds.
In the 400m race for school boys, Thulasivenu from Salem took home the gold medal, clocking in at 50.15 seconds. Dhanush S from Chennai closely followed, earning the silver with a time of 50.19 seconds, and Yuvan Sharavan from Coimbatore finished with the bronze, completing the race in 50.23 seconds. In the 3000m race for school boys, Saravanan from Salem triumphed with a winning time of 8:46.89 minutes. Akash from Coimbatore finished in the same time but claimed the silver, E Tamilselvan from Kanchipuram grabbed a bronze medal, crossing the line in 8:49.50 minutes.
The 1500m race for school girls witnessed Gowsika L from Virudhunagar claiming the gold medal with a time of 4:47.52 minutes. Wincya Elizabeth W from Kancheepuram finished with a silver medal, crossing the line in 4:51.09 minutes, while V Mahalakshmi from Namakkal secured the bronze with a time of 4:52.74 minutes.
In the shot put event for school boys, Padma Thejus from Thirunelveli achieved a remarkable throw of 16.82 meters to win the gold medal. M Abhinav from Ramanathapuram followed with a silver medal throw of 14.24 meters, and V Sabarish from Kancheepuram took the bronze with a distance of 14.16 meters. Whereas in the shot put competition for school girls, Merlin Hannah S from Chennai excelled with a throw of 14.04 meters, earning her the gold medal. Anushree KS from Erode secured the silver with a throw of 13.26 meters, while Shinee Nithila from Coimbatore took home a bronze throw of 12.87 meters.
In the high jump for school boys, Ashok Kumar from Theni claimed the gold medal with an impressive leap of 1.97 meters. P Theesa from Sivagangai secured the silver with a jump of 1.90 meters, while Sakhtivel from Thirunelveli took home the bronze, clearing a height of 1.85 meters, while for the college men’s 100m event, Mohamedhaone from Chennai emerged victorious, finishing the race in 10.71 seconds. Jayakumar from Vellore followed closely to win the silver with a time of 10.85 seconds, and B Aravindan from Kancheepuram earned the bronze, clocking in at 10.874 seconds.
In the college women’s 100m event, Angelsilvia M from Tiruppur secured the gold medal with a swift time of 11.98 seconds. M Kowsalya from Coimbatore finished with the silver, clocking in at 12.09 seconds, while Subadharshini from Thiruvallur claimed the bronze with a time of 12.23 seconds. The men’s 3000m race saw Sathish Kumar from Chennai dominate the competition, winning gold with a remarkable time of 8:19.84 minutes. KV Ahil Ram from Kanniyakumari took the silver in 8:25.63 minutes, and Pragatheeshwaran from Thanjavur rounded out the podium with a bronze, finishing in 8:29.02 minutes. In the college men’s shot-put event, A Vishwa from Namakkal claimed the gold medal with a throw of 17.19 meters, narrowly edging out silver medalist Balaji G from Chengalpattu, who recorded a distance of 17.15 meters. Abyjith from Tiruchirappalli secured the bronze with a throw of 15.91 meters. Women’s competition for the event had Vaishnavi from Perambalur take home the gold with a throw of 14.37 meters, while Sharmila from Chennai earned the silver with a distance of 13.87 meters. V Madhumitha from Ramanathapuram completed the podium with a bronze, achieving a throw of 13.23 meters.
In the college women’s high jump, Gopika from Salem won the gold with a height of 1.74 meters, followed closely by Varsha from Chennai, who claimed silver through a tie-breaker at 1.68 meters. Gracena G. Merly from Kanniyakumari also cleared 1.68 meters, taking home the bronze. Lastly, in the college women’s 1500m race, Lavanya R from Chennai finished first with a time of 4:44.38 minutes, while Soundarya K from Madurai secured the silver in 4:46.15 minutes. Swathi from Tiruchirappalli rounded out the podium with a bronze, clocking in at 4:47.39 minutes. It was a great event to see participants compete and win medals, celebrating their hard work and dedication to their sport.
