Gold Coast Offers Financial Support to Help Students Settle in Australia

$1,000 Grants Available for New International Students in Gold Coast

The Gold Coast, known for its growing reputation in education, innovation, and the creative industries, hosts a vibrant international student community and several leading universities and vocational institutions. With a diverse economy spanning tourism, healthcare, construction, and the arts, the city has taken a strategic step to enhance its global appeal. As part of this effort, it has launched Phase 2 of the New Student Grants programme, designed to provide financial assistance to international students. The initiative aims to ease the burden of early relocation expenses and support students as they begin their studies and settle into life in Australia.

Under the scheme, 100 grants of $1,000 each are available to eligible newcomers. The funding is intended to assist with essential expenses such as textbooks, accommodation, and daily living needs. The application window opened on 6 August and will remain open until 31 October 2025. To qualify, applicants must be new to Australia, commence their studies between 11 August 2025 and 31 March 2026, and hold, or have applied for, a valid Student Visa (subclass 500). Additionally, they must be enrolled for a minimum of 24 academic weeks at an Experience Gold Coast Education Member Institution. Students already residing in Australia or enrolled elsewhere are not eligible.

Officials emphasised that only the first 100 eligible applicants will receive the grant, urging students to apply early. The programme forms part of the city’s broader strategy to position the Gold Coast as a vibrant hub for international learners, combining academic excellence with an enviable lifestyle. The grant offers both practical support and a warm welcome to students choosing the Gold Coast for their educational journey.

Editor’s Note:

The Gold Coast’s Phase 2 New Student Grants programme is a strategic investment in the academic and personal success of international students, offering more than just financial relief. By easing the initial costs of relocation, the grant allows newcomers to prioritise their studies, build connections, and fully engage with a globally minded learning environment. Recipients will receive more than just textbooks and housing; they'll gain access to a city that cultivates innovation, creativity, and cross-cultural exchange. As students integrate into life on the Gold Coast, they will benefit from exposure to varied industries, top-tier educational institutions, and a lifestyle that promotes both well-being and ambition. This initial support establishes the foundation for long-term growth, enabling students to develop resilience, independence, and professional connections that will influence their future careers.

Skoobuzz underlines that by aligning financial aid with strategic enrollment objectives, the Gold Coast strengthens its reputation as a place where education is not only attainable but also life-changing.
