Johns Hopkins University Delegation Visits India to Explore Educational Partnerships

On November 17, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan met with senior officials from Johns Hopkins University (JHU) to explore the possibility of establishing a JHU campus in India. The 12-member delegation, led by JHU President Ronald J. Daniels, is on its largest-ever visit to India. It also includes representatives from the Gupta-Klinsky India Institute (GKII), a JHU initiative focused on fostering collaborations with Indian institutions.

During the meeting, discussions centered on potential academic and research collaborations between JHU and Indian universities. Minister Pradhan emphasized the opportunities provided by India's National Education Policy 2020, which supports international collaborations and aims to expand the reach of high-quality higher education. The talks covered various topics, including the development of dual and joint degree programs, student and faculty exchange initiatives, and collaborative research in fields such as data science, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technologies.

A senior official from the Ministry of Education expressed optimism about the outcome of the talks, noting that the strong interest shown by the high-level delegation gives the government hope for a positive resolution soon. Following the meeting, the delegation continued its multi-city tour across India, visiting university campuses and engaging with government officials and academic leaders to explore further collaboration opportunities.
