Applications Open for XMU’s 2025 New International Student Scholarships

Xiamen University (XMU) has officially opened applications for its 2025 New International Students Scholarships, which were established in 2006 to support international students pursuing degree programs. These scholarships not only cover full tuition fees but also provide exceptional postgraduate students with monthly living allowances aligned with Chinese Government Scholarship standards. Founded in 1921 by Tan Kah Kee, XMU holds the honour of being the first Chinese university established by an overseas Chinese individual. Moreover, it is recognized as one of China's leading institutions, as it participates in prestigious national programs such as the “211 Project,” “985 Project,” and “Double First-Class Initiative,” which aim to elevate select universities to global excellence.

Renowned for its scenic campus, XMU operates across four locations: Siming, Zhangzhou, Xiang’an, and its international campus, XMU Malaysia. It comprises a graduate school, six academic divisions, 34 schools, and 17 research institutes. The scholarships are available for Bachelor’s programs lasting 4–5 years, Master’s programs lasting 2–3 years, and Doctoral programs lasting 4 years. However, recipients are required to undergo an annual review to retain their scholarship eligibility. Failure to pass this review will lead to suspension or disqualification, with specific details provided in the most recent notices.

The eligibility criteria are as follows:

1. For Bachelor’s programs, applicants must hold a high school diploma or its equivalent and be under the age of 25 by September 1 of the academic year.
2. For Master’s programs, applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree or higher and be under 40 years of age.
3. For Doctoral programs, applicants must have a master’s degree or higher and be under 45 years of age.

To apply, candidates must first secure admission to Xiamen University. Once admitted, they should complete the online application and upload a signed Application Form for Xiamen University Scholarships in either Chinese or English.
